When her aunt Louisa passed away in 1888 Ernest returned to America and took his daughter to Vienna, Switzerland to live with him. Lulu would go on to marry Emil Rasim in 1903 and lived a quiet life in Reutlingen, Germany where she died in 1975 at the age of 96.

MOUNT GILEAD: Ethel L. Styer, age 78, of Mount Gilead, passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2016, at Marion General Hospital.

On October 15, 1938, Ethel was born in Fulton, OH, the daughter of the late Homer and Elizabeth (Scott) Norman.

Ethel married James J. Styer on December 24, 1954. They celebrated 50 years as husband and wife before he preceded her in death on September 6, 2005.

For 30 years Ethel worked for J.G. Clark as an inspector, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, Jim and Ethel enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She was a member of the Galion Moose and was active in Seniors on Center in Mount Gilead.

Ethel was the best card player in Northeastern Ohio, especially Euchre and Rummy. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, driving around to take in the scenery, and spending time with her family.

Ethel will be dearly missed by her four daughters: Debra (Ken) Vance of Marion, Shirley (Robert) Ortasic of Mansfield, Diana (Ray) Chatfield of Caledonia; Vicky Styer of Panama City, FL; four grandchildren: Angela (Ralphie) Groves, Sandra Smith, Stephen (Brittany) Hobson, David (Andrea) Shoaf; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Rosella Traxler of Marion.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Ethel's family will greet friends from 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held there at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 with Pastor Stephan Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.
