HARDY- CHATFIELD WEDDING

A WEDGWOOD blue brooch, 78 years old and in Faith, Hope, and Charity design, finished the bride's toilette at the wedding of Miss Eva Beryl Chatfield and Mr. Eric Frederick Hardy, which was celebrated last evening in St. Andrew's Church of England, Lutwyche, by the Rev. J. H. Brown-Beresford.

THE bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Hardy, Nundah, and the bride, who was given away by Mr. Arthur Stower, is the third daughter of Mrs. F. A. Chatfield, Windsor, and the late Mr. George Chatfield.

Bishop sleeves were a feature of the bride's gown of ivory satin, and the Peter Pan collar was pinned with the Wedgwood blue brooch lent by Mrs. K. C. Bytheway (Wilston). Her veil of white tulle (lent by Mrs. R. Atwell, Nanango) was arranged with a halo of lilies-of-the-valley, and she carried white carnations, stephanotis, and lilies-of-the-valley. The bride's two sisters, Mrs. G. L. Symes and Miss Valma Chatfield. were the matron of honour and bridesmaid respectively. The matron of honour was frocked in sweetheart pink georgette over taffeta, and wore a tulle veil with a matching bow. The bridesmaid's matching frock was of net over taffetas and her tulle veil was arranged with a pink floral halo. Both carried pink bouquets. Mr. G. L. Symes was best man and Mr. Ken Hardy groomsman. A reception was held at Prince's, where Mrs. Chatfield received the guests frocked in maize sheer. She wore a hat to tone, and carried an autumn-toned bouquet. The bride grooms mother favoured a navy sheer frock and matching hat, and a shoulder spray of Sunburst roses. Leaving for the honeymoon, which will be spent touring the North Coast, the bride wore a navy bolero costume with while lapels, and a navy toque.

Okenug. In 1668 Jabez Harger and John Hulls purchased a parcel of land from
Alexander Bryan called Peaquacs Plaine with a meadow called James Meadow.
At a Derby Town meeting in 1683 Jabez Harger was appointed to purchase
enough land from the Indians for a hamlet. He actually purchased more and
resigned his deed to the town after the town laid out his home lot to his
satisfaction. The town also granted the swamp land back to him to make up 2
acres. In drawing of lots, Abraham and Ebenezer had their portion of their father's estate in Derby bought
by their brother, Jabez. 1701/2.

Stratford, but in the next year he settled in Derby where he died in 1678. He is
said to have been a Huguenot from Westchester NY but seems to have come to
Stratford in 1662, for in that year he married Margaret, the daughter of Henry
Tomlinson. During the few years he remained at Stratford he purchased a
number of pieces of land at Oronoke, one of which he purchased from the
Indians, on which one of his sons settled many years later.
