"Hardaway's New Berlin connection was life long. After his father's death circa 1840, his mother, Mary Ann Chatfield Hardaway, remarried Pittsfield's Jesse Beardslee whose own wife, Adaline Angell Beardslee, had died in 1843. The young Hardaway grew up in a large household, with his step brother, Augustus ("Gust") Beardslee and his younger half brother, Nathan Summers ("Sommers") Beardslee.

Cyrus Hardaway's subsequent years are shrouded in some mystery. Two letters from him to Augustus Beardslee's wife, Caroline Abigail Moore Beardslee, provide evidence that in 1891 he was married (Delia White sic), lived in Washington, D.C., and worked for the USA Department of Census.
Hardaway maintained an interest in his family, friends, and the affairs of Pittsfield and New Berlin throughout his life until his death in 1910. His mother, Mary Ann Chatfield Hardaway Beardslee, died on June 17, 1885; her husband, Cyrus Hardaway's step-father, Jesse Beardslee died in 1878. Augustus Beardslee, Hardaway's step-brother and always referred to in Hardaway's letters as "Gust," died in 1881. Augustus's wife, Caroline Abigail Moore Beardslee, whom Hardaway teasingly referred to in his Civil War letters, as "Betsy Jane," lived until 1900.

All of these persons, united by family or marriage, are buried in St. Andrew's Cemetery in New Berlin, New York. As close as they were in life, they are as close in death. Their communal burial site can be located by walking straight west from the South Main street entrance of St Andrew's cemetery. Proceed up the hill behind the cemetery vault and locate a large cedar tree. Hardaway and his family and friends are buried within feet of each other."

Holomany, Glorya A.
Glorya A. (Harden) Holomany 88, daughter of Charles F. and Barbara A. Harden of South Kent, CT and wife of Ernest A. Holomany, passed into God's care Wednesday, November 25th, 2015 at her Brookfield, CT home after a long illness. Glorya and Ernest enjoyed a long marriage of 61 years starting life together in Danbury CT, eventually moving into their lifelong home in Brookfield CT.
Glorya had an exceptional intellect evident from the age of four when she recited Shakespeare from memory on New York radio, and in later years wrote beautiful poetry, painted and enjoyed creating textile art. Glorya loved animals and was a phenomenal vegetable gardener, having a garden from the time she was nine years old until just a few years before her passing.
Early on Glorya worked for the Sperry Corporation as part of a team that developed ultrasonic jet engine testing equipment for the government, and was a member of Eastern Star.
She was such a sharing and giving person, always putting others first, no favor was too big, no good deed was ever given a second thought, she just poured her love out to others everyday in any way she could. Her children were given a kind and love filled childhood most could only dream about, as was her husband a loving marriage. Love, kindness and forgiveness was the wellspring of her heart and daily actions; this is how she lived her life.
Glorya didn't care for winter, but rather the light and sweetness and rebirth of spring and summer. In her honor a eulogy will be given by her husband and daughter, Sharon (Holomany) Chatfield this early summer at her daughter's home in South Kent, CT for immediate family and friends. Her ashes will be laid to rest in the family plot at Morningside Cemetary in Gaylordsville, CT.
Besides her husband and daughter, Glorya is survived by a son, John C. Holomany of Danbury, CT, a grandson, Hunter R. Chatfield of South Kent CT, and two beloved cousins, Marika and Neven Berberovic of Zagreb, Croatia
Dearest mother and wife, you are forever loved, daily blessed and sorely missed.
