She was born April 13, 1936 in Ashton to Charles and Billie Merrick, one of nine children. She spent her entire life living in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1954. In 1954, she met and married Marvin "Buck" Thomas. Together, they had two children, Charles Thomas and Cyndy Thomas Klepinger. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the bank of the Henry's Fork in 2004. Beverlee devoted herself to taking care of her family and held Buck's hand as he went home in 2008. She is survived by her children, three grandchildren, Katie (Chase) Burke; Heidi (Josh) Lanier and Alex Thomas. Beverlee often commented that while she thought being a grandma was good, her "Greats" were a million times better. She fiercely loved her four great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Marley, Cambri and Harper. These four were truly her pride and joy. After many years of working at the local Ashton bank, Beverlee pursued a life-long dream of going to college. She graduated from Idaho State University and earned a master's degree from Montana State University. She was a counselor for many years in the Fremont County School District. She was an active member of Rebakahs, an international service-oriented organization and a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Ashton Community Methodist Church. She led the youth group at the church for many years and still kept in close contact with some of the members, whom she held close to her heart. Beverlee had many interests including quilting, horseback riding and making raspberry jam! In her retirement years, she kept her mind sharp by taking a multitude of extracurricular classes, including art and botany. She is survived not only by her children and grandchildren but a sister Jene Ueberroth and brothers, Jim (Pearle) and Lynn (Margaret). Many cousins, nieces and nephews will remember her fondly as well. She married LaVern Darwin Kidd September 28, 1974, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 22, 2007. They moved to Idaho Falls 35 years ago. Carol was a homemaker and mother and also worked as a teacher in Districts 91 and 93 in Idaho Falls. She retired from Tiebreaker Elementary in 2003. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various capacities over the years, including as Relief Society President, Visiting Teacher, and as a full-time Missionary in Caro, Michigan, for 12 months, which she considered one of the highlights of her life. Carol traveled with her husband to Israel, Egypt, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Hawaii, Honduras, and Guatemala. She loved spending time with her grandchildren reading and telling stories. Spending time with and teaching children was a big part of her life. Survivors include: She will be greatly missed by her loving husband and extended family. He was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Blackfoot, the son of Charles and Billie Merrick. Her married Pearle Grube on May 1, 1953, at Ashton Methodist Church. He graduated from Ashton High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. He served in the military during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he farmed with his father. Farming did not work out, so he leased ground at the old Wendell Bridge, where he owned and ran Jim's Boat Dock in the summer. During the winter, he taught sixth grade in the Pocatello school system. He later taught adult Indians on the reservation, was an underwriter for Farmers Insurance and finished up his working career with State of Idaho Health and Welfare. He was past president of the Eagles Organization in Pocatello and a member of American Legion in Ashton. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and traveling. He also loved spending time camping with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Pearle; two sons, Don (Nancy) Merrick of Park City, Utah, and Jerry Merrick of Yucca Valley, Calif.; three grandsons; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and Michelle and David Pisarshi.
