Brigadier General, Confederate States Army. Graduated West Point in the class of 1827. He had a distinguished career in the US Army until is resignation on July 31,1861. He was brevetted Major for gallantry against the Seminoles and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the 5th Infantry on June 5, 1860. After Laura's death Alexander remarried a Jewish woman (Hettie Cawan), who owned the New Orleans Paper, about 1897. I think they had 2 more girls, Virginia and Margie. Hattie died in 1926. Alexander went to England and brought back another wife (Jean) sometime around 1933. Jean died shortly afterward from an Aneurism. I think the first 3 children were born outside of London, but at sometime the family moved to America and eventually settled in Detroit, Michigan. I also was told that Alexander had 10 brothers and sisters.
