Mrs. Bridget Sammon Dee, Sister of Mrs. Mary Minnehan, Dies In Her Home at Rochelle After Lingering Illness.

Mrs. Bridget Sammon Dee, a sister of Mrs. Mary Minnehan of Sycamore, mother of Mrs. C.A. Lindsey, formerly of Sycamore, died in her home at Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, following a lingering illness. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church of which she was a member. The Rev. Father Thomas O'Brien will officiate, and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Dee was born Oc. 6, 1953, in Wilmington, O., the daughter of Austin and Bridget Kirby Sammon. She moved to Lee county with her parents when a child, and had lived in Rochelle for more than 70 years. Her husband, John F. Dee, died 42 years ago.

Surviving are six children, Harry of Freemont, O., Mrs. E.A. Lindsey of Chicago, Mrs. Bernard Kuelgen of Rochelle, Joh of Chicago, Paul of South Bend, and S.W. Dee of Rochelle, 12 grandchildren, one brother, Mattew Sammon of Detroit, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Minnehan of Sycamore, Mrs. Kate Wood of Detroit, and Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Thomas Daum, both of Steward. Four brothers proceeded her in death.

History - Martha and children Alice, Ellen, Emily, Jane, and Nephi were on the Joseph S. Rawlins Company wagon train departing July 25 and arriving Aug. 20, 1868. Her older son, Joseph, had already arrived in Utah in 1866. Her husband, Thomas, came later in 1869.

They made their way to Pleasant Grove where their daughter had settled, but could not find work so moved to Salt Lake where they remained their entire lives.

Evidence from emigration records proves that the Elsmore family came to Utah in 1868 or 1869. They were on the ship to America in 1868.
