He was honorably discharged in 1947. Mr. Parkinson started working for the USA Postal Service in Delta in 1948. He retired in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a 72-year member of the Delta IOOF, a 60-year member of Delta Elks, a member of VFW, the National Association of Federal Employees and the Grand Mesa Good Sam Club. He was a longtime member of Delta United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, the outdoors and hooking up his fifth wheel camper and hitting the road.
