Partial Newspaper Funeral Notice -- Mr. Kirwan's second marriage was
blessed with eleven children, Mrs. J. J. Burns, Mrs. Dan Shroll, John and
Allen of Tyndall; Mrs. A. M. Lower, of Sioux City; Peter of Deer Lodge,
Mont.; Thomas of Stickney; Albert of Beresford; Edwin, of Sacremento, Ca.;
Verna of Houston, Texas; Mrs. L. J. Chatfield of Deadwood; one son, James,
died in 1902. Besides the children, deceased is survived by 22
grandchildren, besides a legion of friends made in Bon Homme county during
his 30 years residence here. With the exception of Edwin, who is seriously
ill in a hospital in California, and Verna, of Texas, the children were
all with the father when he passed away. Funeral services were held at Mt.
Leo's Church, Tyndall, Monday morning with Rev. M. F. Dooley, his pastor
officiating. Mr. Kirwan was a lifelong, faithful member of the Catholic
church. His sons, Thomas, Peter, Albert, John and Allen and Dennis Murphy,
an old friend, acted as pallbearers. The body was laid to rest in the
Catholic cemetery, beside his wife, who preceded him to death. Thus
passeth another of our older citizens, highly honored and respected by
everyone who came in contact with him. Mr. Kirwan will be greatly missed
by neighbors and friends, who enjoyed meeting and visiting with him. He
had a fine memory and was a brilliant conversaltionalist and friends
passed many a hapy afternoon in his presence. The deepest sympathy is
extended to the children in the loss of their father. (Newspaper Funeral
