4th of 5 children of CLARK SAMUEL CHATFIELD, JR. & MADGE ROSA Occupation: Teacher, lecturer, pipe organist, Grand Jury member Avocation: Writer Note: Honored in Who's Who Married: Jun 9, 1945, FREDERICK RANDOLPH "F.R." EDWARDS, Berkeley, Alameda Co., California One child [Actually three but two died young] ----- "The last of her generation in this line, is on her way to Arcturus catching the tailwind of the 6.1 Northern California earthquake on Aug 24, just seven days shy of her 91st birthday." ----- Obituary Aura Chatfield Edwards August 30, 1923 ~ August 23, 2014 Resident of Lafayette, CA Aura passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek on August 23 just seven days shy of her 91st birthday. She was born August 30, 1923 in Williams, California to Clark and Madge Chatfield. She is survived by her son Tom Edwards (Libby) of Lafayette, grandson Fred Edwards (Ashley) of Honolulu, HI, granddaughter Lissa Edwards of Aspen, CO, great-granddaughter Reagan of Honolulu, HI, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many close personal riends. Aura grew up in Williams and attended UC Berkeley where she met her husband Fred. They were married in 1945 and were married until Fred passed away in 2003. Aura and her family moved from Kensington to Lafayette in 1955. As a Lafayette resident Aura became involved with various community service activities including Vice Chairman of Lafayette's 49 member Blue Ribbon Citizen's Committee, Vice Chair of Lafayette's BART District Study Committee, President, Stanley Junior High School Parents' Club, and President, Acalanes High School American Field Service Club. Aura was also active in Republican politics at the local and state level where she was President of the California Federation of Republican Women North and Women's Vice Chairman for the North of the Republican State Central Committee. Aura also served on the Contra Costa County Grand Jury. As a result of her time on the Grand Jury, Aura also served as President of the Juvenal Hall Auxiliary. Aura was one of the few female professional theatre pipe organists in the USA and worked for 11 years at the Bella Roma Pizza Parlors in Concord and Martinez. Over the years she entertained hundreds of local school children and various organizations at her home in Lafayette where she and Fred had installed a Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ which was originally created for the Loews theatre in Memphis, Tennessee. To say Aura marched to a different drummer would be a significant understatement. Her oversized round colored glasses as well as her many unique interests clearly put Aura in a different league. In 1967 she began a long self study process in metaphysics and became a member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, where the was asked to speak on dreams. This resulted in a fascination of dreams and dream analysis resulting in her writing a book on how to interpret and analyze dreams. She spoke frequently to many organizations on dreams. She also was interested in and lectured on reincarnation, UFO's, Karma, and many other subjects covered in parapsychology and metaphysics. Aura was truly a unique individual. During her life she constantly played bridge and was a member of multiple bridge groups. Throughout her most unusual life she made many friends, helped whenever she recognized a need, and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She was preceded by her husband Fred, a son John, daughter Kathy, four sisters and one brother. It was Aura's wish not to have a funeral. Her ashes will be interred next to her husband's in the Edwards Family plot at Oakmont Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Her usual response to people whom she helped and who asked what they could do for her was "Do some kindness anonymously for someone whom you believe has hurt you in the past or has caused you the most grief. That would be a wonderful gift for everyone concerned." Barbara Allison CHATFIELD, 57, passed away on Saturday October 8, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 25, 1959 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France to Stanley and Margery Chatfield. She married Derek Uchida on October 21, 1989. Barb grew up in Monument, Colorado and attended Lewis Palmer High School, where she was captain of her basketball team and Valedictorian. She matriculated at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and became a proud sister of the Chi Omega fraternity and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology in 1981. Barb attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University, then received training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In 1991, Barb entered active duty in the USA Air Force, and served as the medical director of Pediatric Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After achieving the rank of Major and honorably fulfilling her service to the Air Force, she accepted a faculty position at the Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine. The passion of Barb's medical career was to care for children affected by cystic fibrosis (CF) and to become a leader in the fight against CF through research and investigation. She became the Pediatric Center Director of the Intermountain CF Center in 2000, and was promoted to the rank of Professor of Pediatrics in 2008. Under Barb's leadership, the Center became nationally recognized for excellent pulmonary function outcomes and quality improvement projects. She was a principal investigator on numerous grants, was an author on many academic publications, and played a major role in the institution of newborn screening for CF in Utah. Most importantly, Barb cherished the bonds she developed with the children and families affected by CF. Despite Barb's many academic and professional accomplishments, above all else, she will be remembered for her genuine kindness and unwavering selflessness. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Kimberly, Allison, and Emily, and a loving wife to her husband, Derek. She was a great friend to many. Barb had so much compassion for those who were a part of her world, and had a unique ability to see the good in everybody. She dedicated all aspects of her life to helping others and making a difference, and she certainly succeeded. She is loved by many and will never be forgotten. Barb is survived by her husband, Derek; daughters, Kimberly, Allison, and Emily; mother, Margery Chatfield; sisters, Chris McCloy (Dave), Catherine Dmochowski (Mark); brothers, Steve Chatfield (Kali), Keith Chatfield (Joan). She was preceded in death by father, Stanley Chatfield; brother, Jeff Chatfield. We would like to thank Barb's medical team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Program, headed by Dr. Saundra Buys, for your incredible care, compassion, and support. We would like to also thank the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics; it was an honor for Barb to have been part of the faculty family for over 20 years. A memorial service celebrating Barb's life will be held Saturday November 5, 2016 at 5:30 pm in the Scholarship Room on the 4th floor of The Tower at Rice-Eccles Stadium, 451 South 1400 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84112. ===== USA Public Records Name Chatfield Barbara Uchida Residence Date 01 Aug 2000 Residence Place Salt Lake City, Utah Address 512 Perrys Hollow Rd., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103 Possible Relatives Barbara Allison CHATFIELD, Derek A Uchida Record Number 676576992 ----- USA Public Records Name: Barbara Allison Chatfield Also Known As: Barbara U Chatfield 2nd Also Known As Name: Barbara A Uchida Residence Date: 13 Nov 2000 Residence Place: Denver, Colorado Birth Date: 25 Aug 1959 Phone Number: 755-2369 Phone Number Recorded Date: 15 Nov 2007 Address: 9708 E Colorado Ave Apt 302, Denver, Colorado 80247 Address Date: 13 Nov 2000 2nd Address: 120 W Stirrup Trl., Monument, Colorado 80132 2nd Address Date: 01 Dec 1993-15 Nov 2007 3rd Address: 3329 E Bayaud Ave Apt 412, Denver, Colorado 80209 3rd Address Date: 01 May 1988-18 Jul 2001 Possible Relatives: Chatfield Barbara Uchida, Derek A Uchida, Margery L CHATFIELD, Stanley E Col CHATFIELD, Uchida D Chatfield Record Number: 85641160 |
