In 1887 Marina was faced with foreclosure on a mortgage negotiated through Mesrs Jarvis Conklin & Co.
She was trying to get another loan to pay off the mortgage. The homestead also was mortgaged to Read's Bank and this debt also needed to be paid. There was no property in the estate that could be sold to pay debts except two horses. Homestead was tract of land N.W.1/4 of section 4 Twsp 33, Range 3, East Cowley county.

Marion Pardee
OLD SAYBROOK – Marion Warner Pardee, 84, of the Canterbury Villa in Waterford, formerly of 99 Lyndee St., Old Saybrook, died Thursday at the convalescent home. She was the widow of Sherwood W. Pardee.

A graduate of the former New Britain Teachers College, she was a social worker and then a kindergarten teacher at the Goodwin School in Old Saybrook for 30 years before retiring in 1966.

Mrs. Pardee was a member of the National Association of Retired Teachers, the Old Saybrook Women's Club, the First Congregational Church of Old Saybrook and the Botsford and Warner Family Association.

Born April 16, 1899, in New Haven, she was the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Botsford Warner. Survivors include two sons, Henry W. and Sherwood W. Pardee, both of Waterford; a brother, Donald Warner of Whispering Pines, N.C.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Swan Funeral Home. Private burial will be conducted in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Donations may be made in her memory to the Marion Warner Pardee Scholarship, care of Mary Potter, Watrous Point Road, Old Saybrook.
