Randolph Freeman Duggan Sr., 70, widely known as an independent oil operator, died Saturday at his residence in Cliff Towers Hotel.

He had lived in Dallas thirty-four years and was chairman of the Magnolia Seed, Hardware & Implement Company. His oil interests were principally in South and West Texas and he was instrumental in the development of Slaughter Field in West Texas.

He was a thirty-second-degree Mason, a member of the Hella Temple and a charter member of the Dallas Athletic Club. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

He was also active in the organization of the old Stamford College at Stamford, Texas, and had been a member of the college's board for several years.

He was born in Seguin, Guadalupe County, and lived in Abilene, where he had an automobile agency, before coming to Dallas.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday[, 24 Dec 1951], at the Campbell Funeral Chapel, 300 West Davis, with the Rev. William H. Dickinson, Jr., associate pastor of Highland Park Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park [Dallas].

Survivors include his wife; a son, R. F. Duggan Jr., Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Julia D. Bliss, Whittier, Calif., and Miss Maxine Duggan, Newport Beach, Calif.; a stepson, J. I. Dixon, Dallas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Faye Dixon Bender, New York City; and three grandchildren.

Upon his retirement from the oil industry, Randy started a real estate company in Coupeville. He sold his interest in the company to his partner Sandy Roberts and developed real estate on his own.

He eventually retired and lived in Coupeville and Oak Harbor, where he was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann. At the time of his death, he was married to Judith Duggan.

Randy was a member of the Oak Harbor Lions Club, the Coupeville United Methodist Church and the Avon United Methodist Church. He served on the Skagit EDASC Board. He owned College Way Realty and Investment.

Randy had a passion for helping others. He helped start The Lord's Garden on Whidbey Island. He was also a founding board member of The Friendship House in Mount Vernon. The staff of Regency on Whidbey is greatly appreciated for the kindness and sensitivity demonstrated towards Randy in his final days.
