Cairns Post (Qld. : Wednesday 25 October 1950) WEDDING RAVENSHOE, Oct 18.-On Saturday, October 7, at the Methodist Church, Ravenshoe, the marriage was celebrated of Hazel Joan, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. The bride, looking very lovely, entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away. Her frock was: of fine, off-white lace worn over slipper satin, and a tulle veil which had been worn by her grandmother. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli. A three strand pearl necklet, the gift of the bridegroom, completed a lovely ensemble. Miss Marie CHATFIELD, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and chose a bouffant frock ot pink figured organdie. For headdress she wore a short pink net veil, held in place by a trail of pink flowers. She carried a bouquet of pink flowers. The duties of best man were carried out by the groom's brother. Mr. Clyde Rankine. During the signing of the register, and as the happy couple were leaving the church, Mr. Weston, senr. played appropriate music on the organ. The reception was held in the School of Arts, where Mrs. CHATFIELD, who wore floral crepe, with white accessories, and Mrs. Rankine, who chose blue crepe with brown accessories, welcomed the 70 guests. The tables bad been tastefully decorated, pride of place being given to a two-tiered wedding cake, made by the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Whebell, of Mareeba, and iced by Mr. T. Merrin, junr., of Ravenshoe. Rev. Peel was chairman, and a number of toasts were given musical honours. The bride's gift to the groom was a travelling set, and the groom's gift to the bridesmaid, was a two strand pearl necklet. A large number of congratulatory telegrams were received, also many valuable presents and cheques. The honeymoon will be spent in Sydney, to where the young couple left by car, travelling overland.
