Janis Lewis, of Durango, passed away peacefully Friday, December 14, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., where friends may greet the family from 12 noon until the time of service. Rev. Penny Thomsen of Hospice of Dubuque will officiate.
Janis was born November 9, 1936 in Dubuque, the daughter of Roy and Bertha (Chatfield) Bradfield. She was employed as a CNA at Stonehill Care Center.
Janis enjoyed gardening, fishing and crocheting. She loved horses and all baby animals. Janis was a devoted grandmother, and loved relaxing at home, watching T.V.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cheri (Robert) Basten of Zwingle, IA, Wanda (Tim) Steve of Durango, and Chuck (Jodi) Lewis of Durango; her grandchildren, Kaylee and Jancee Lewis of Durango; her brother, Duane (June) Bradfield of Dubuque; her sisters, Mary Blocklinger of Dubuque, Natalie Heim of Arlington, TX, and Ann (Lyle) Whalen of Dubuque; and her beloved pets, Max, Socks, Shadow, and Angel.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles W. “Charlie” Lewis on August 14, 2001; her brother, Bob “Butch” Bradfield; and her brother in law, Maurice Blocklinger.
