Daggett occurred last night at her home, No. 410 Herrick street, at 9 o'clock. She was sixty-seven years of age, and death was caused by peritonitis. Deceased is survived by her husband, C. C. Daggett and eight children, Edward of West Superior, Wis., Merritt W., of Wellsville, Pa., Willis C., George and Leman, of Elmira, Fred of Potter Brook, Pa., Mrs. Charles Updike, of Jackson Summit, Pa., and Mrs. Judson Buell, of this city. The funeral will be held at the residence at 1:15 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The remains will be taken to Mosherville, Pa., for interment. The deceased was a member of the Wells Presbyterian church. She was a devout Christian. In her home life she displayed the qualities of a true mother, bringing up her children in a manner worthy of her character. The reciprocated the feeling of love and to them the loss of the mother is a sad blow (Elmira newspaper, Friday, June 25, 1897). |

They had four children. ----- Find A Grave Memorial# 80413918 ----- Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian May Bitney, 81, resident of Woodburn for the past 40 years, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Ringo chapel here with Rev. George H. Swift of St. Paul's Episcopal church at Salem and Rev. W. S. Van Meter, vicar of St. Mary's Episcopal church of Woodburn, officiating. An Eastern Star ritualistic service followed and interment was at Belle Passi cemetery. Mrs. Bitney died last Sunday afternoon at the Woodburn hospital after a long illness. She was born in Dayton, Green Lake county, Wisc., October 12, 1866, and was married to the late Leslie M.Bitney at Marshalltown, Iowa, December 17, 1890. They lived at Sturgis, S. D., until 1907, when they came to Woodburn. Mr. Bitney died in 1940. Mrs. Bitney was a member of the local evergreen chapter, Order of Eastern Star, for 24 years and served as worthy matron in 1933. She was also a member of the Past Matron's club, of St. Mary's Episcopal church and guild, and the Woodburn Garden club. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mabel B. Grass, Mrs. Hazel Chatfield and Mrs. Altha Miller, all of Woodburn; one son, Dewey H. Bitney of Albion, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. George G. Miller of Woodburn; seven grandchildren, Geraldine Merrill of St. Louis, Mo., Harry W. Grass of La Crosse, Kan., Robert B. Miller and Miss Mayanna Miller of Woodburn, Barbara, Dewey H. Jr and Austin Bitney of Albion, Mich.; and four great grandchildren, Barbar Ann and Donald Miller of Woodburn, and Taylor and Susan Merrill of St. Louis, Mo.
