He spent his childhood in Delta and graduated from Delta High School in 1937. After graduation he worked in the family trucking business. He joined the USA Navy in 1941. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Mr. Parkinson started working for the USA Postal Service in Delta in 1948. He retired in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a 72-year member of the Delta IOOF, a 60-year member of Delta Elks, a member of VFW, the National Association of Federal Employees and the Grand Mesa Good Sam Club. He was a longtime member of Delta United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, the outdoors and hooking up his fifth wheel camper and hitting the road. Mr. Parkinson is survived by his wife, Gladys Parkinson; two sons, Larry of North Carolina, and Gary of Boulder; a daughter, Tammy Lambert of Idaho; a sister, Ramona Parkinson of Delta; a stepson, Bud Webb of Florida; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Sperry of Delta; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Parkinson; a brother, William; and a stepson, Timothy Webb. |

She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan CHATFIELD, son Rod Brauer, four brothers: Robert, Donald, John, and Richard Parks, and three sisters: Sal Murray, Mildred Lantis, and Dorothy Walbrook. | STEP-MOTHER OF Kathleen J. "Kathy" (Parks) Chatfield Marian J. Parks of Bieber passed away on January 10, 2015. Marian was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa to James and Velma Fisher. She moved to California and graduated high school in Los Angeles, followed by getting married and becoming a registered nurse. Marian moved to the Fall River Valley, California in 1964 and started working at the Mayers Memorial Hospital when it had only 10 beds. Marian met and married Carl Parks in 1974 and moved to Bieber, California. She soon earned her Real Estate Broker's license and together they ran Big Valley Real Estate in Bieber for 40 years. Marian had her hand in many of the community events and served on the boards for the Big Valley Chamber of Commerce, Big Valley Community Swimming Pool, Big Valley Health Center, and was very involved in the Lions and Big Valley Days events. She was always a supporter and organizer for blood drives in the valley and for the Shriners Children's Hospital. When something needed to be done you could count on both Marian and Carl Parks to help out. Between them they had seven children: James Bonsall (deceased), Joe Bonsall, Jean Bell, Joyce Nowlin, Ed Parks, Carolyn Davis, and Kathy Chatfield. They had 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Stephens Catholic Church on Highway 299E in Bieber, California on Feb 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a dessert reception.
