Mr. Markham, who was born in Dubuque, died at 9 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He formerly lived at 2401 Stafford St., and worked for the Milwaukee Railroad prior to his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a veteran of World War II, when he served in the National Guard with the 133rd (Red Bull) Division ETO.

Surviving are his wife, the former Hazel Grant, two daughters, two step-daughters, four sons, one step-son; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Floyd (Melita) Smith of Dubuque.
