Sometime of East Grinstead and afterwards of Steyning. Head master of the Grammar School there 1669. A minor in fathers will 1638 and in uncle Richard's in same year. Called "clerk" in his will, dt. 16 Aug 1685, prd 14 June 1687 (P.C.C. 75 Fooke).

Conveyance (bargain and sale), in consideration of £72 10s., from Bernard Chatfield as above and Elizabeth his wife, and Henry Chatfield of Arundel, gent., their son, to Joseph Peckham of Steyning, cordwainer. WISTON/6530 19 Jan 1686

Property II, in occ. of Widow Hills, but excepting to the vendors the cellar under the shop of William Squire; adjoining E. a messuage late of Thomas Gouldinge and now of the said William Squire, and N.W. a messuage late of Richard Austin, gent., and now of Eleanor Holney, widow, and sometime in occ. of Richard Pellatt, and now of the said Joseph Peckham.
Recites that John Rowland, as in the last deeds, purchased the property from John Parsons of the Middle Temple, esq.
