Recites that on 10, 13 August 1667 John Rowland, late of Horsham, gent., decd., grandfather of the said Elizabeth, conveyed the above property to trustees for himself and his daughter Elizabeth, wife of the said Bernard CHATFIELD, with remainder to the said Elizabeth Chatfield the granddaughter until her brother Henry should pay her £100, with remainder to the said Henry Chatfield; that Elizabeth Chatfield the granddaughter is shortly to marry William Smith of Steyning, mercer, and that she has immediate need of the said £100.
Marriage settlement (lease and release, with counterpart release). In consideration of his forthcoming marriage to Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Bernard Chatfield of Steyning, clerk, William Smith, here described as of Steyning, mercer, conveys the following to trustees for himself, his wife and their heirs.
