He was wounded in the Battle of Saratoga, which was fought on his farm or his brother Asa's farm or their dad's farm. It is said that he was wounded in the hand (?) while carrying water to the soldiers. From Find A Grave web site, Memorial# 108579662 Rausel went to Ontario, NY. Later, with sons Jesse and David, he went to Lawrence Co. Ohio where they settled at Ice Creek Bridge which is now known as Sheridan. He took government land and built a house and farm with an orchard. He also raised vegetable and had many farm animals according to family history colllected by Gene Chatfield. He remarried after coming to Ohio to a Lydia Cole on Sep 22, 1822 in Aberdeen Oh. The Russel in the 1790 NY census (Albany Co.), the Rozwell in the 1800 NY census, (Saratoga Co.), the Roswell in the 1810 NY census (Ontario Co.) and the Roswell in the 1830 Ohio Adams Co census could all be the same person. Rausel died sometime after 1841. He is buried in the McCoy Cemetery without a marker according to family historian Gene Chatfield.
