Emary, Harriette

Birth Name Emary, Harriette
Gender female
Age at Death 69 years, 11 months, 24 days

Narrative

After the death of her husband John Roberts, at least initially (1871 Census), it seems the children were placed with the families of their more fortunate cousins. As the years passed, however, their situation slowly improved. By the 1881 Census, Harriette and her daughters were established dressmakers in Tunbridge Wells. Ten years later (1891Census), Harriette had attained sufficient means to make her livelihood by renting-out apartments. She died on Christmas Day 1899, and was buried at Christ Church, Tunbridge Wells. Harriette's gravestone also is dedicated to the memory of her husband, who preceded her in death so many years before.
