Hello Colin,

My brother and I have found your vast Chatfield family tree on Geneanet and wonder if you
could help us with a problem.

Our friend Robert D. CHATFIELD, born October 1932, died on 5th April, 2019, aged 86,
intestate. He was an only child and something of a loner, and we are trying to find some
living relatives. His parents were Arthur Robert Chatfield (born Islington, 1876, died
Wandsworth, 1958) and Anne MacDonald (born 1894, Waterford, Ireland, died Reading,
Berkshire, 1985) - her father was Mayor of Waterford at some stage and she had siblings.

From the small amount of family information that "our" Robert gave to one of his friends
(including that there was a chemist in his ancestry, and a Vicar in Wiltshire), we believe that
Arthur Robert Chatfield was the son of Robert Edward Chatfield (1845-1922) who, in turn,
was the son of Robert Money Chatfield (1804-1882), Vicar of Woodford, Wiltshire. However,
according to your tree, it seems that Robert Edward Chatfield didn't marry.

On the 1891 census we have found a Robert E. CHATFIELD, Chemist, born Wiltshire, living in
Waltham Holy Cross, Edmonton, with wife Francis (sic), born Warwickshire, and son Arthur,
aged 14, born Middlesex. On the 1901 census we find Robert CHATFIELD, Manufacturing
Chemist, born Woodford, Wiltshire, living in Fulham with wife Kate, born Birmingham,
Warwickshire, and son Arthur, aged 24, Manufacturing Chemist Assistant, born Canonbury,
Middlesex. This all fits with Arthur Robert Chatfield being the son of Robert Edward
CHATFIELD, except that we can't find a marriage for Robert Edward Chatfield with either
Francis/Frances or Kate.

We believe that "our" Robert was the great-grandson of Robert Money Chatfield and that he
therefore has a good many living cousins, but we can't as yet prove definitively that his
grandfather was Robert Edward Chatfield. Can you help at all, please?
