FUNERAL OF MR. L. J. LAWSON
Tile funeral of Mr. Leonard John Lawson took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, leaving his late residence, 627 Chapple-lane, off M'Culloch-street. North Broken Hill. The cortege was a large one, there being a large and representative gathering of business men and other prominent men around the grave. The Silver City Club was represented by Mr. A. Ritchie, the Silver Star Druids by Mr. F. Reeks, and the Masonic Lodge by V.W. Bro. R. Opie, P.D.G.I.W., who gave the Masonic service at the grave. The hearse was laden with floral tributes, among which were dome wreaths from the Silver City Club, Willyama Lodge 178, and Mr. and Mrs. E. Johnson. The bearers were Messrs. K. Johnson (Willyama Lodge), J. Considine (Silver City Working Men's Club), M. Sharp (Silver Star Druids' Lodge), J. Read (contractor), F. Stephens and T. Carr (friends). The interment was made in the Methodist Cemetery, the Rev. A. S. Barrett conducting the service.
Mr. Barrett paid tribute to the brave spirit of Mr. Lawson during his suffering. He said that he was a man to be honored, and that he had set an example worthy of following. The funeral was under thc direction of Fred J. Potter and Son.
