Mrs. CHATFIELD, wife of Mr. George Chatfield (ex-Mayor of Wallaroo), died at Wallaroo on Friday at the age of 72 years. She was born at Kensington in 1850, was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. William Lewis, of Wallaroo, and was married at Clare in 1871. For many years the family was in business at Wallaroo, and Mrs. Chatfield won the hearts of the people by her kindly and charitable disposition. In Mr. Chatfield's long municipal and public career his wife was a great helpmeet. The family was a large one. The surviving members of it are Messrs. George CHATFIELD, sen. (of Wallaroo), George CHATFIELD, jun. (Murray Bridge), and Fred Chatfield (Wallaroo), and Mesdames J. Maddern (Mile-End), C. O'Connor (Pinnaroo), J. D. Lawson, A. Paterson, and F. J. Pengelley (Wallaroo), and Edith Harrington (North Adelaide). There are 29 grandchildren.
