Ed was the husband of Margaret Mitchell Chatfield. A decorated Chief Petty Officer, USA Navy he served honorably in the Atlantic theater. Margaret and Ed were married in 1946, and spent the next 16 years traveling the U.S. building pipelines. In 1962, they settled in Wilmington. Survived by six children, Kevin, Carol, Keith, Jean Louise, Kurt, and Kent.
