Housatonic Lumber Co. in Derby, Conn., marked its 100th anniversary with a dinner May 12 2007. The single-location, $22 million pro dealer was founded by Robert W. Chatfield in 1907 and has had only one other principal owner, Chatfield's grandson, Terry R. Chatfield. Over the years the company has survived a number of challenges, including floods, hurricanes, recessions, and the Depression.
