Eddie died at 8pm (Irish Summer time) yesterday (10 Jul 2017). Mary called us at 11:30 her time, 8:30am today our time to give us the news. He had a fall at home about four weeks ago and went to Sligo General hospital; then got pneumonia which didn't respond to any antibiotics. He was due to go to the hospice but they kept him in at the hospital and the palliative care doctors took over the treatment. Mary had just gone home after many sleepless hours with him and she got the call that he had breathed his last breath. She went back in with her sisters and the prayed for him at his bedside for a long time. Not quite sure whether the funeral will be this Thursday or next but we will not be going. We last saw him when he was home after his first fall in 2015 and we were in Israel. Love, Martin CHATFIELD, brother-in-law.

Info on James Murray
I was born in Tubbercurry in 1947 and ... After I left school when I was fourteen I started painting and decorating and spent two years working with the Brennan brothers, Bernie and Eddie, first class tradesmen and decorators. Their father Pakie was the first person I saw graining in the traditional way. He was the best imitation grainer that I have ever known, he was also a master sign writer. Bernie was and is one of the best men I ever seen at lining, a real master and Eddie was also a real professional and "a hound with a brush" as his father used to say. I learned a lot from the Brennan's.
