TRANSPORT MINISTRY
Sir,-I notice that Mr. Ward has been relegated to transport and that transport was ranked last in the order of portfolios in the last Cabinet. This bears out what I have always contended that transport, which is the lifeblood of all industries, is apparently the Cinderella portfolio.
The sooner everybody realises the vital importance of transport and it begins to receive the importance it demands then the quicker ships will be turned round and a successful conclusion to the war effort reached. In my opinion transport, especially railways and heavy carrying, should at least in war time be placed under the Minister for Shipping, for their work is inseparable.
NEVILLE CHATFIELD. Sydney.

I, Colin John CHATFIELD, was only 3 when he wrote this but I would agree with him now in 2012.
