Emigrated to USA 1852.
R. E. CHATFIELD, was a native of England and came to America as a young man. Here he married and moved westward to California; and in Sacramento he clerked for Gillig and Mott, pioneer hardware dealers. He later went to Virginia City, Nev., for Gillig and Company, a branch of the Sacramento house, and there he had charge of their warehouse both during the boom and the great fire. His next removal was to Reno, and there he died at the age of fifty-five.
