Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Emmanuel Church here, for Adelaide (Chatfield-Taylor) Sohier who died Saturday in her Manchester home after a long illness. She was 90.
Born in Lake Forest, Ill., Mrs. Sohier was educated in France. In the late 1930s she ran the River House, a New York City social club. During World War II she operated a canteen in Boston for the French government and for her efforts was awarded the Croix de Guerre.
Mrs. Sohier had lived in Manchester for more than 30 years and had previously lived on Beacon Hill in Boston. She was a life member of the Essex County Club and the Singing Beach Club, both in Manchester.
She leaves a son, Hendrick H. Whitman of New York City; a daughter, Rose Sanborn of Roxbury; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be private.
