Mr. Howard R. CHATFIELD, aged 86 of Fountain, passed away on Thursday evening, March 31, 2005 at the West Shore Medical Center in Manistee (Manistee, Manistee Co., Michigan, USA). Howard was born on October 14, 1918 in Fountain to Clarence and Mildred CHATFIELD, and married Ann VanRiper on November 15, 1947 in Fountain. Ann preceded him in death on December 16, 1974. Howard was a dairy farmer for many years in Fountain, and was a former member of the Fountain Baseball team. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Sheldon Chatfield. He will be remembered by his children Robert (Virginia) Chatfield of Swartz Creek, Thomas (Karin) Chatfield of Denver, Colorado, and Sally Chatfield of Charlotte, North Carolina, his grandchildren Andrea, Ethan (Sarah), Matthew, Nathaniel, and Elizabeth CHATFIELD, his great-grandchild Alexander CHATFIELD, his special friend Mae Winters, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held for Howard at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 4, at the Stephens Life Story Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery.
