CHATFIELD, ROBERT Of Swartz Creek, age 71, died Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at McLaren-Flint. A memorial service will be held 3pm Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Dr. Philip Rice officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Robert was born in Ludington, Michigan on November 22, 1947, the son of Anna (VanRiper) and Howard Chatfield. On November 27, 1970 he married Virginia Williams.
Robert was a dedicated physician and family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a passion for medicine, books, learning and nature, but above all, helping others. Later in his career, Robert was especially passionate about helping those with substance abuse problems. He was a kind and generous man, patient, compassionate, non-judgmental, and endlessly proud of his family.
Robert is survived by his brother, Thomas, and sister, Sally; his ex-wife Virginia; children, Andrea, Ethan, Matthew, and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Clay, Alec, Addie, Ben, Gabriela, and Quinn; several nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his beloved dog Gabby.
