The many members of the old Sixth C.V. [Connecticut Volunteers] will be pleased to learn that the name of Captain Walter H. Chatfield of Waterbury is to be added to the roll of honor of Connecticut men who took part in the Spanish-American war. Captain Chatfield commands a company in the Fifth regiment of the USA infantry, and when last heard from was stationed on the northern coast of Cuba. He is the Son of the brave Colonel John L. Chatfield of Waterbury of the Sixth regiment, C.V., who was fatally wounded in the attack on Fort Wagner, SC, during the civil war. He was born in Waterbury and was a member of Company A up to the time he left that city to enlist in the regular army in the early 70's.
