Michael Rabiger started his career as an editor and documentary director for BBC, North German Television, Granada Television, and others.
Michael Rabiger has directed or edited over 35 films. In 1972 became a teacher in the film department of Columbia College Chicago (USA), where he founded the Documentary Center (1988), and later became Chair of Columbia’s Film/Video Department. In 2005 was made Professor Emeritus by Columbia College Chicago. Rabiger has received the Preservation and Scholarship Award by the International Documentary Association in Los Angeles as well as the 2005 Genius Career Achievement Award by the Chicago International Documentary Festival. He is currently writing a biography of Thomas Hardy.
