After Jumbo's death, Vesta remarried in 1947 to Edward C. Stevenson, of Moorcroft, WY. Vesta was schoolteacher in Quinn Table, SD, after having herself finished highschool. Her second husband, Stevenson, died on 12-24-1963, at age 99 years. Vesta is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Weston County, Newcastle, WY.
Vesta had two half-sisters, Minnie and Nell. Vesta's parents were married in Forriston, IL (Ogle Co.). Vesta had no brothers, but full-sisters Nell, Lida, and Kizzie. Vesta's parents were Mr. Emaziha Lochard (who was a Lieutenant-General in Civil War and died on the train home from wounds sustained in battle in 1864. He was Scottish.) and Elisabeth Gibson, who was English. Emaziha was an only child, of John Gibson Lochard and Sophia Scott, who married in1820. Sophia Scott was the eldest daughter of the author, Sir Walter Scott.
