Narrative

For a number of years after attaining his majority was a resident of Seymour and was a justice of the peace from 1861 to 1868, and one of the school visitors from 1863 to 1866. Since then he has been the proprietor of several large hotels in this state, in Philadelphia, at Brighton, Shelter Island and New London, and for four years was manager of Fenwick Hall. He is now proprietor of the Hotel Jefferson. New York City. He became a member of Morning Star Lodge, F. & A. M., Feb. 27, 1861. He married 1st, Anna J. Leigh, daughter of Lewis and Isabelle Leigh, of Willington, Conn., b. 1815.
