Gay Girls Gather. If there should have happened to have been prowlers about the Chatfield residence on West Sycamore street Wednesday evening they would doubtless have seen the equal of any vaudeville act, Miss Ethel Chatfield was hostess at a shower in honor of Miss Blanche Darling who is about to assume the matrimonial yoke, and about 12 young ladies were present, The evenings entertainment was varied, very varied, By matching cards each girl was required to do some stunt which was the request of the remaining crowd, Singing a la Patti style, speeches, athletic feats of crawling on hands and knees down stairs, in fact every feat, even a school boy conld think of, was performed, After the jest and jollity had subsided somewhat the guests retired to the dining room where a three-course dinner was served, On entering the dining room each guest was given a gilded candle-stick with lighted candles to set by her plate, and the maiden whose candle was the first to burn out would be the next to step timidly forth in married life, Bribes that would make a Chicago councilman look sick were offered to the waiters to blow the different candles out. By request for official information from the numerous young men of Sycamore we herewith hand ont the dope of the order in which the candles became extinguished : Misses Mae Hohm, Cora Christian, Anna Wellings, Bess Branen, Marion VanGralder, Olive Hall, Blanche Jenness, Ethel CHATFIELD, Ruby Graham, and last, but not the most despondent, Miss Imo Hall, At a late hour the company retired to their homes voicing loud and long the abilities of Miss Chatfield as an entertainer.
