MRS W. G. BROWNHILL. The death occurred very suddenly at Portland yesterday morning of Mrs Clara Ruth Brownhill, aged 55 years. Deceased was the daughter of early settlers at Tauranga, and 25 years ago married Mr W. G. Brownhill, at Auckland. They lived for 12 years at Coromandel, where Mr Brownhill was gold mining, and, in 1923, moved to Portland, where they have resided ever since. Deceased was very highly regarded in the district, and her helpfulness to local sports bodies and organisations was particularly appreciated. Mrs Brownhill had been under a doctor for some time, but yesterday morning appeared to be in quite good health. A few minutes after rising to attend to her domestic duties, however, she collapsed and died within a very short time. The widower and a family of two sons, Victor (Portland) and George (Auckland), and two daughters, Mesdames A. Edwards (Portland) and T. Williams (Auckland), are left. The funeral will leave the residence at 2.30 tomorrow afternoon.

=====
William Galbraith's marriage ties with Clara Ruth Galbraith have proved irksome to him, the attentions of John Peterson towards his spouse culminating in the Divorce Court, when, through his solicitor (Mr. J. R. Luindon), he asked for a dissolution of his marriage. Petitioner said he was married in May. 1902. His suspicions were aroused by the late hours his wife kept. He taxed her with infidelity, but she denied it, and invited him to keep a watch upon her. He accepted the invitation, and after explaining on one night that he was going to Whangarei, he remained in Auckland, and saw respondent and co-respondent meet, and go to his (petitioner's) house together, where they remained for half an hour. Corroborative evidence as to the illicit amours of respondent and co-respondent was given, and his Honor granted a decree nisi, returnable in three months, with costs against the co-respondent.[3] She married 2nd William George Brownhill in 1910.
