OBITUARY
Emma Eckley was a daughter of John and Amanda (Chatfield) Eckley. She was born Sept. 3, 1868, in Sciota county, Ohio. When about six years old, she moved with her parents to Cass couny Indiana, and has resided in the Otterbein community ever since. She attended Logansport Normal college and taught school for seven terms in Cass county prior to her marriage to Hyrcanus Bevington, also of the Otterbein neighborhood. Mr. Vevington passed away in 1929, and Clarence one of the four sons born to them, died in 1944. Mrs. Bevington had been a member of the Otterbein E.U.B. church for many years. Her death occurred at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, ovember 12, 1949, at her home four and one half miles north of Galveston after an illness of five months. Surviving are the three sons, Ralph, Russell, and Merrell, all living in the same community north of Galveston; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, George Eckley of Bunker Hill, and Willard Eckley of Miami; one sister, Mrs. Alice Shope, also north of Galveston, and several nieces and nephews.
