Miles attended Ferrill's Military Academy in New Orleans. In 1934 he opened his first car dealership in New Orleans, Crescent Chevrolet Company. He was the president and manager of Howard Motors Inc. from just before World War II until his retirement in 1958. He also served as President of the New Orleans Automobile Dealers Association. After his retirement, Miles served as chairman of M.G. Stevens Corporation, a real estate investment and management company.
