Helen was raised in rural Newburg, and married Robert "Bob" John James Montgomery XIII at the Congregational Church, Leeds, ND in 1951. They moved to Tioga in 1952, just ahead of our family, when Tioga was booming. Their children were born and raised in Tioga. They were our friends and neighbors.

Helen's oldest daughter, Beverly, was killed in a tragic car accident on her way home from UND for Bev's brother Robert XV's funeral. Robert "Bimbo" died of cancer at the young age of 18.
Helen was a wonderful mother, neighbor and friend to all who knew her, and a hard worker and talented fiber artist. She donated her remains to medical research.
