Daniel served in the Revolutionary War. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant of the 2nd Company in March, 1761, and was Lieutenant of a company raised in Derby in January, 1777, to join the Continental Army. In May, 1778, he was commissioned Captain of the 13th Company in the Second Regiment. (State Records, Vols. 1 and 2).

On June 10th 1781 the church voted they be dismissed from the Oxford Church and recommended to the church in Waterbury, CT.

Died aged 83.

Capt. Daniel K Chatfield and Prudence Baldwin were married about 1765 in USA. Prudence Baldwin, daughter of James Baldwin and Deborah Porter, was born on 27 April 1736 in Waterbury, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. She died on 19 March 1828 at the age of 91 in Waterbury, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA. She was buried in Library Park Cmtry., Waterbury, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA.
