5934	ii.	Lucy Maria Beard was born in 1858 in Huntington, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. She died on 16 March 1910 at the age of 52 in Oronoque, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. She was buried in Riverside Cmtry., Shelton, Fairfield Co., Connecticut, USA. Unmarried She began teaching school in her native town at the age of 16 and taught there continuously until her death, occupying the position of Principal of the Grammar School, eighth grade, for nearly 35 years. She was noted as a most painstaking, faithful teacher, having the faculty of not only teaching the pupils book knowledge but that more rare quality of teaching them the higher, better things of life, making all her pupils her life long friends.
