The son of Joel & Mercy (Blackman) Beard, he married Maria Chatfield of Huntington, Conn. on May 10, 1830. He was a Representative for the State of Conn. in 1855. He farmed & lived on the Beard homestead in Long Hill, Huntington, Conn.
