WEDDING Smith--Chatfield.
The marriage of Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. CHATFIELD, to Roylance Douglas, second son of the late Mr. D. P. Smith and Mrs. D. Smith, of the Seaview Hotel, Cooktown, was celebrated on Monday afternoon at the residence of the bride's parents. Rev. W. A. Y. Jeffries, of the Methodist Church, was the officiating minister. Owing to recent deaths in the families of both parties the ceremony was of a quiet nature and only immediate relatives were present. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an en-semble of georgette. The three-quarter length coat of a pink and green floral design was worn with a three quarter length frock of white, featuring a white Peter Pan collar. She wore white kid shoes and white silk gloves. Her hat was a white crinoline picture hat with'a narrow trimming. Mrs. H. CHATFIELD, who was hostess at the reception, chose a marocain frock of black floral design on a white ground, with hat and shoes to match. The bride's dress was made by Mrs. S. Stevens, of Cairns. The only guests at the reception were Rev. and Mrs. Jeffries. The wedding cake was the work of Dyer's bakery.
