Lorene CHATFIELD, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at her home in Pellston.
Lorene was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Barbourville, Ky. She was the daughter of James and May (Hopper) Bennett. She moved to Detroit with her family as a young girl and attended Southwestern High School.
On Nov. 20, 1953, she married Stanley Chatfield in Angola, Ind. The couple made their home in the Detroit area where they raised their family. In 1987 Lorene and Stanley moved to Pellston where they have been since.
She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She was an active member of the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. She loved singing at church services.
Lorene is survived by her husband, Stanley; children, Patricia (John) Christensen of Dyer, Ind., Robin (Bill) Biscorner of Memphis, Mich., Stanley S. (Rusty) Chatfield and wife, Betty, of Levering; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eileen (Harley) Coomer of Liberty, S.C., Eugene (Ann) Bennett of Barboursville, Ky., Lois (Bob) Ferguson of Hamilton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob; and her siblings, Cecil and Archie Bennett and Thelma Powers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. Pastor Rusty Chatfield will officiate.
