CHATFIELD, EDWARD Edward “Ed” CHATFIELD, 87, of Winchester, CT, passed away on Sunday June 22, 2014. He was born April 2, 1927, to the late Edward Chatfield and Lepha (Crosier) Chatfield. He was predeceased by Virginia (Boutin) CHATFIELD, his wife, of 64 years. After growing up in the Gilbert Home in Winsted, Ed worked for the Connecticut State Highway Department, Kenwood Tree Service, and O&G, until he retired. Ed served in the US Army during the Korean War as a Carpenter in the 808 Engineer Aviation Battalion. He was a member of the Winchester Grange #74, and VFW #296. Ed was known as a great mechanic and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed gardening, his neighbors and country western music. Ed is survived by four children: Gwendolyn “Wendy” Hayes of Winsted; Edward “Kirby” CHATFIELD, Jr., of Hawaii; Jeff Chatfield of Winchester; and Terrence “Terry” CHATFIELD, of Ashburn, Virginia. In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Luana CHATFIELD, Marion Daigneault, Stanley Griswold, and Fred Chatfield.
