As a youth lived at 1417 Center St. in Lansing, Michigan. Attended Cedar
Street grade school, C. W. Otto Jr. High School, and Lansing Eastern H.
School. Graduated in June 1963. Attended Michigan State University from
Sept. l963 to June 1967. Graduated with a BS degree in Civil Engineering
Attended Purdue University from Sept. 1967 to Jan. 1969. Graduated with a
Masters Degree in Civil/Sanitary Engineering. Started employment with
Ford Motor Company, Plant Engineering Office, on January 22, 1969. Left
Ford in April 1977, and went to work for Wade-Trim/Assoc., Inc., a
consulting Engineering firm located in Taylor, Michigan.
After his marriage to Nancy Blink, they resided in Livonia, MI from 1973
to 1978. They then had a house built in Canton, Township, MI in Western
Wayne Co. Mert, (as he is called) enjoys fishing and gardening in the
summer, and also enjoys genealogy as a hobby. Mert and Nancy had a pop-up
camper for six years and traveled with the children to Yellowstone
National Park, Canada, Wisconsin and many places in Michigan. There
favorite place was to camp near the shores of Lake Superior in the upper
peninsula of Michigan.
In 1989 Mert and Nancy had an opportunity to attend the National Water
Pollution Control Federation convention in San Francisco, CA. While there
they experienced the big EARTH QUAKE, a seven (7) on the Ricter scale. It
was an experience that they do not want to have again. Suffice it to say
that they are not ready to return to California.
