Deborah "Debby" L. Hofmann, 65, of St. Johnsville, New York, in the Town of Ephratah, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York.

Debby was born on January 25, 1952 in Auburn, New York and was the daughter of the late, George and Joyce (Schmelzle) Skutt. She was educated at Skaneateles Central School and graduated with the Class of 1970. After graduation, Debby attended beauty school and earned her New York State Cosmetology License.

She was previously employed for Lexington Centers in Johnstown, New York as an administrative assistant. Debby worked for Lexington for 20 years until her retirement several years ago. Debby was elected and held many positions within the Town of Ephratah including Deputy Town Clerk from 2000 to 2011, Deputy Tax Collector from 2003 to 2004, Tax Collector from 2004 to 2012, Administrative Assistant for the Town Assessor from 2016 to the present and was also the Deputy Tax Collector from 2012 to present.

Debby spent many years in the 1990's volunteering for the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School where her daughter, Kerry attended. Since 2005, Debby was an active member of the R.G.L. Volunteer Fire Department in Rockwood, New York. She was also an E.M.T. First Responder and was a member of the Fire Police. In addition to her volunteer membership for R.G.L. Volunteer Fire Department, she also served as their secretary for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed hiking, cooking, and camping. Several years ago, Debby embarked on an adventure with her friends, the Charon's, as they hiked the Appalachian Trail and she assisted them as their driver.

Debby will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Debby is survived by her beloved daughter, Kerry L. Hofmann of Orlando, FL; a step-son, Jeffrey D. Hofmann and his wife, Melissa of Auburn, NY; a loving sister, Renee Jerva and her companion, Joe Bialuski; two loving brothers, David Skutt and his wife, Laurie of Auburn, NY and Thomas Skutt and his wife, Minnie of Syracuse, NY; two step-grandchildren, Haley and Macy Hofmann both of Auburn, NY; two nephews and a niece, Aaron, Rebecca, and Joseph; several cousins and many close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her first husband, Terry Card.

Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan, New York, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents, at a later time.
