In 1948, WILM was purchased by the Delaware Broadcasting Company, owned and operated by Ewing B. Hawkins. In 1972, his wife Sally was named General Manager and the station relocated from its King Street location to French Street, where it remains to this day.
In 1976, Sally V. Hawkins transformed WILM to one of the first locally owned and managed, All-News radio stations in a middle size market. Against all odds, the station then started its ascension towards fame thanks to Sally Hawkin's constant battle for an outstanding News product.
In 1992, E.B. Hawkins, son of Ewing and Sally Hawkins, entered the family business as General Manager. Sally remains President of the company.
