Rosemary Chatfield died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was 77.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in the First Baptist Church Worship Center, Ponca City, Oklahoma with the Rev. Dr. Michael Seabaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

A longtime resident of Ponca City, Rosemary was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lewis and Bertha Hall. She was a graduate of Paseo High School. An Associate’s Degree was obtained from Kansas City Junior College. In 1952 she obtained a B.S. in Business Administration from Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg, Missouri.

She was employed in the Personnel Department of Socony Vacuum Oil Company in Kansas City, Missouri 1952 to 1955. She was married to John Chatfield on September 23, 1955, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he served in the Air Force. After his discharge, they moved back to Kansas City in 1956. The family moved to Ponca City in 1964. She was employed as a secretary at Northeast Baptist Church from 1970 to 1979, was a legal secretary one year for Walt Brune, and then served 9 years as education secretary at First Baptist Church of Ponca City, retiring in 1989.

Through the years she served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Her involvement in the music ministry began at age 9 by playing piano for Sunday School classes. As an adult she played piano or organ in churches in Kansas City, Missouri and in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Other interests were singing in choirs and ensembles, sewing, quilting, oil painting and writing.

Survivors include three children, Dr. Donald Chatfield and his wife, Karen, of Oro Valley, Arizona; Linda McCachren and her husband, Scot, of Morristown, New Jersey, and Neal Chatfield and his wife, Sarah, of Vail, Arizona; two granddaughters, Emily McCachren and Julia McCachren of Morristown, New Jersey; three sisters, Lucille Garrett of Great Falls, Virginia, Alice Peters of Tigard Oregon, and Ruth Horne of Palm City, Florida; six nephews, three nieces; 9 grand nieces and nephews and one great-grandniece. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John William CHATFIELD, and an infant son, Charles William Chatfield.
